A trip to St Paul doesn’t have to cost a fortune. There are tons of great family-friendly activities to partake in that are completely free. St Paul is full of fun experiences that will impress your kids no matter how different their tastes are. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular free family activities in Minneapolis and St Paul:
Como Park and Zoo
Yes, both the zoo and the conservatory next door are completely free, as well as the surrounding outdoor park area. You can spend a whole day walking through the exhibits, visiting the animals, and checking out the incredible gardens. If you feel up to it, you can always leave a donation to help them keep the park running, but it isn’t required.
Free Concerts at Centennial Lakes Park
As part of a larger community outreach program, Centennial Lakes Park hosts free concerts and movies in the park throughout the year. You can almost always find a local artist performing or a group of people gathering to watch a show. Bring your lawn chairs or pull up a blanket and unpack a picnic! This is a great way to enjoy the evenings during the warmer months.
Minneapolis Institute of Art
Not only does the Minneapolis Institute of Art host an incredible collection of art galleries, they have also put together a number of fun activities that allow your children to experience the joys of creating art of their own. The best part is that it’s not limited to just the visual arts. There are plenty of musical experiences to enjoy here as well!
Mall of America Movies
Did you know that the Mall of America offers free family movies every Saturday morning? You can take the kids to enjoy a newly released feature film or an old classic. There will be plenty of other kids watching with you.
Free Workshops for Kids
Many home improvement stores and toy stores have begun hosting free workshops to bring kids and parents closer together. Stop by your local home improvement store and learn how to build a birdhouse with your son or daughter. Head on over to one of the local toy stores to participate in story times, LEGO building contests, and more.
