Looking for things to do in St. Paul? We’ve got activities to do in the winter!
There are so many great family activities and fun things to do in St. Paul that it’s hard to pick just a handful to spotlight. Luckily, there are Christmas activities for the family lasting all through November and December that make kids go bananas.
If you want fun activities in the winter for the whole family, try these options:
One of the top winter family activities for everyone to try is sledding. After the first snowfall, the city is packed with sledding hills – including many gentle enough for the kids. There are many to choose from, but Battle Creek Regional Park features choice child-friendly options.
Rice Park Ice Rink
No list of fun activities for the family in winter would be complete without a good ice rink. Rice Park is a welcoming space for kids complete with colorful sculptures of beloved Peanuts characters, the rink, ice carvings and the Winter Carnival. Plus, Frozen Family Fun Night arrives in January!
Minnesota Children’s Museum
Just a hop, skip and jump outside St. Paul, Minnesota Children’s Museum in Rochester provides programs and events enjoyable for children of all ages. Free Sunday is coming in early December, and at the end of the month, you can ring in the new year right with the “Noon Year’s Eve” Family Party.
European Christmas Market
If you’re still doing winter shopping, the European Christmas Market gives you a wonderful taste of a long-running holiday tradition. Available the first two weekends in December, it’s like stepping into a German Christmas village complete with tasty European treats.
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory
It’s never a bad time to visit your favorite animals at Como Park Zoo! Featuring free Thursdays through April, the zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. most weekdays. It’s famous for “wintery” residents like the polar bear, Arctic fox, snow leopard and everyone’s best friend, the penguin.
Chain of Lakes Regional Park
In St. Paul’s “twin,” Minneapolis, Chain of Lakes is a unique landmark. It’s a fantastic way to see the city and offers skiing and skating when the winter turns cold. There’s a reason it’s the top family-oriented park in Minnesota.
If this list of things to do over winter break has you excited, get out there with the family and see everything beautiful St. Paul has to offer. The area’s fun things to do over winter break can create memories that last a lifetime.
